Little Woods Studio Pottery Wheel Intro
Come have a go at the pottery wheel in our 2.5 hour wheel throwing workshop. You will be taught the foundation skills needed to make vessels on the wheel. This workshop is fun, informative and experiential. You'll get the chance to experience the feel of clay and what it's like to work on the wheel.
You may select 2 of your ceramic pieces to be glazed and fired by staff. Additional pieces may be chosen at an extra cost of $5 per piece.
This introductory workshop is a fantastic stand alone experience as well as a way to gauge your interest in taking a longer course.
Fly solo or book in as a group!
Kib Denson has been practicing ceramics for the past 7 years, having transitioned from a traditional fine art practice, and now works full-time in the industry.
Kib teaches a range of ways to work with clay, from hand-building, wheel throwing to slip casting. In her personal work the focus is on minimal, wheel thrown functional forms and glaze experimentation. She is constantly working to expand her skills with experimentation in wood firing, sourcing and processing wild clays, and sculptural techniques. For images click here.
Aki Swift holds a BA in Ceramic Design from Bard College of Simons Rock, in Western Massachusetts. They have been working in, with and around clay for nearly 15 years — making production pottery for restaurants, selling ceramic supplies, assisting in community arts spaces, managing a college studio, and always devoting time to more slow, illustrative personal work when life allows.
Aki is currently interested in creating interactive-functional pieces, both hand-built and wheel-thrown, with a focus on dreamy narrative surface decoration through sgraffito and stains. As a barista alongside clay work, they are also interested in the intersections of crafting clay, food, beverage and culinary spaces and experiences. For images of their work click here.
